RAID aims at developing intelligent robots. Our research is mainly concerned with mechanics in robotics, artificial intelligence and computer vision in Robotics. Some of our projects have been acclaimed and won prizes at International Exhibitions.
VESIT has been participating in Robocon, a National League organized by Doordarshan, India, right from 2002. VESIT won the Robocon 2004 and competed for India in the ABU Asia-Pacific League in Seoul, South Korea. Dexter-2 is second robot in Dexter series. Dexter-1 was 5 feet long big industrial robot weighting 120 Kg. Dexter-1 has won First prize in Elecrama2002, first prize and judges special prize for best innovation in IIT Techfest 2002 open hardware contest, First prize in Techkruti organized by IIT Kanpur. Now Dexter-2 won first prize in IIT Bombay Tech fest in open hardware competition. More....
Current work on Prithvi involves developing a compiler platform that supports Image Processing and Computer Vision algorithms. Prithvi has a webcam onboard connected a P4 processor. It has a multiple sensor network that is controlled by the compiler. The main task of the compiler is to enable a scalable architecture, hardware and software, on the robot.
